Effective date: September 19, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how BadgeGig (“BadgeGig,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, and protects personal information when you use badgegig.com, our mobile or web applications, and related services (collectively, the “Services”). It also explains the choices and privacy rights available to you.
BadgeGig connects eligible officers with off-duty work opportunities and provides tools for organizations and authorized coordinators to post, schedule, manage, and communicate about those opportunities. This Policy applies to officers, gig organizers, business customers, website visitors, and other people who interact with the Services.
By using the Services, you acknowledge the practices described in this Policy. If you do not agree with this Policy, do not use the Services.
1. Information We Collect
Information You Provide
Depending on how you use BadgeGig, you may provide:
- Account and contact information, such as your name, email address, telephone number, mailing address, username, password, and communication preferences.
- Professional and eligibility information, such as employing or affiliated agency, rank or role, jurisdiction, badge or employee identifier, certifications, training, work eligibility, availability, and other credentials needed to evaluate eligibility for an off-duty assignment.
- Identity-verification information, such as date of birth, government-issued identification, photographs, or information used to confirm your identity or professional status. BadgeGig will request only information reasonably necessary for the applicable verification process.
- Gig and scheduling information, such as gigs viewed, requested, accepted, declined, completed, or canceled; availability; assigned location; check-in and check-out details; hours worked; notes; and communications with organizers.
- Business and organizer information, such as organization name, business contact details, billing information, jobsite details, staffing needs, authorized users, and gig instructions.
- Payment and tax information, such as payment account details, payout preferences, transaction history, and tax-related information. Payment providers may collect and process full bank or card details directly; BadgeGig may receive limited transaction and account information rather than complete payment credentials.
- Communications and support information, including messages, support requests, survey responses, feedback, and records of communications with us.
- Content you submit, such as profile information, documents, gig descriptions, instructions, incident notes, and other information uploaded to the Services.
Information Collected Automatically
When you use the Services, we may automatically collect:
- Device and network information, including IP address, browser type, operating system, device identifiers, language settings, and mobile carrier.
- Usage information, including pages viewed, features used, links selected, session dates and times, referring pages, and diagnostic or error information.
- Cookie and similar technology data used to keep you signed in, remember preferences, secure the Services, understand performance, and measure usage.
- Approximate location derived from an IP address. With your permission, certain features may collect more precise device location, such as when location is needed for gig discovery, directions, or check-in. You can control device location permissions through your device settings, although disabling location may limit those features.
Information From Other Sources
We may receive information from organizations posting gigs, agencies or employers confirming eligibility, identity or credential-verification providers, payment processors, background-screening providers when legally permitted and separately authorized, analytics and security providers, public sources, and other users who interact with you through BadgeGig.
If a background report or consumer report is requested, it will be obtained and used only as permitted by applicable law and subject to any notices, authorizations, and procedures required for that process.
2. How We Use Personal Information
We may use personal information to:
- Create, maintain, secure, and administer accounts.
- Verify identity, professional affiliation, credentials, and eligibility for gigs.
- Display relevant gig opportunities and support applications, assignments, scheduling, confirmations, attendance, timekeeping, and completion records.
- Allow officers, organizers, customers, and authorized administrators to communicate and coordinate gig activity.
- Process invoices, payments, payouts, refunds, and related financial records.
- Send service communications, including email, push notifications, and SMS messages about account activity and gigs.
- Provide support, respond to inquiries, investigate disputes, and resolve technical issues.
- Protect the Services, users, and others; prevent fraud, misuse, unauthorized access, and security incidents; and enforce our agreements.
- Operate, analyze, maintain, and improve the Services and develop new features.
- Comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests, court orders, subpoenas, or regulatory requirements.
- Create aggregated or de-identified information that cannot reasonably be used to identify you and use it for lawful business purposes.
3. Legal Bases for Processing
Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we process personal information to perform a contract with you, pursue legitimate business interests, comply with legal obligations, protect vital interests, or act with your consent. Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time, subject to legal and operational limitations. Withdrawal does not affect processing that occurred before the withdrawal.
4. How We Disclose Personal Information
We may disclose personal information as follows:
- Between platform participants. Information needed to evaluate, assign, manage, and complete a gig may be shared between officers, gig organizers, business customers, agency representatives, and authorized administrators. This can include names, profile details, credentials, contact information, assignment status, schedules, jobsite information, and work records.
- With service providers. We use vendors that provide hosting, communications, identity verification, credential verification, background screening, payment processing, analytics, customer support, security, and professional services. They may process information only for authorized purposes and subject to contractual obligations.
- For legal and safety purposes. We may disclose information when we reasonably believe disclosure is necessary to comply with law or legal process; protect rights, safety, or property; investigate fraud or misconduct; enforce agreements; or respond to an emergency.
- In a business transaction. Information may be disclosed as part of a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, bankruptcy, sale of assets, or similar transaction, subject to appropriate confidentiality protections.
- With your direction or consent. We may disclose information when you direct us to do so or give consent for a specific disclosure.
BadgeGig does not sell personal information for money. BadgeGig does not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising and does not disclose mobile telephone numbers or SMS opt-in information to third parties for their own marketing or promotional purposes.
5. SMS and Mobile Communications
If you opt in to SMS messages, BadgeGig may send recurring automated messages concerning off-duty gig opportunities, assignment confirmations, upcoming-gig reminders, cancellations, and changes to dates, times, locations, or instructions. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply.
You may opt out at any time by replying STOP. For assistance, reply HELP or contact us using the information below. We may send one message confirming your opt-out. Opting out of SMS does not cancel your BadgeGig account or an accepted gig, and you remain responsible for reviewing important information through other available channels.
SMS consent and mobile information will not be sold or shared with third parties for their own marketing. We may provide this information to communications vendors solely to operate and support our messaging program. Additional terms are available in our SMS Terms and Conditions.
6. Cookies and Similar Technologies
BadgeGig and its service providers may use cookies, local storage, pixels, software development kits, and similar technologies. These technologies help authenticate users, remember settings, maintain security, diagnose problems, understand how the Services are used, and improve performance.
You may be able to control cookies through your browser or a cookie-preference tool made available on the website. Blocking some cookies may prevent certain features from functioning. Where required, we will request consent before using nonessential cookies.
We do not currently respond to legacy browser Do Not Track signals. Where required by applicable law, we will recognize legally valid browser-based opt-out preference signals, such as Global Privacy Control, for the browser or device from which the signal is sent.
7. Data Retention
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, including providing the Services, maintaining business and financial records, meeting legal and regulatory obligations, resolving disputes, enforcing agreements, preventing fraud, and protecting the security of the Services.
Retention periods vary based on the type and sensitivity of information, the relationship involved, legal requirements, and operational needs. When information is no longer required, we will delete, de-identify, or securely dispose of it, subject to backup cycles and lawful retention requirements.
8. Data Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information. These measures may include access controls, encryption, logging, monitoring, employee or contractor access restrictions, and security reviews appropriate to the nature of the information and our operations.
No system, network, storage method, or transmission is completely secure. We cannot guarantee that information will never be accessed, used, or disclosed without authorization. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and notifying us promptly of suspected unauthorized activity.
